Another 41 coronavirus cases were detected in Yucatan in the past 24 hours, and a one-month-old baby is the state’s tiniest patient. Health authorities also reported that 61 patients recovered in one day.

Five died from COVID-19, the same number as Friday, and the lowest number since May 25, when two fatalities were reported.

Accumulated infections reached 2,116 along with 250 deaths, said Dra. Marbella Perera Rivero, head of the department of state epidemiological surveillance.

Of the new cases, 21 occurred in Mérida, six in Tekax, three in Hunucmá and Ticul; two in Kanasín and Peto and one in Bokobá, Motul, Samahil and Tzucacab.

The deceased were:

  • A 54-year-old Merida man with a medical history of obesity.
  • A 58-year-old Merida woman with a history of hypertension and obesity.
  • A 59-year-old Oxkutzcab man with hypertension and diabetes.
  • A 63-year-old Chikindzonot woman with a history of hypertension.
  • A 69-year-old Valladolid man with no history of previous illnesses. He is the only patient who has contacts with symptoms of the virus.

Since the crisis began, 1,615 or roughly 70% of Yucatan’s coronavirus patients have recovered. Of active patients, 102 are in stable condition and at home. The remaining 149 patients are under hospital care, two fewer than Friday.
