Mérida’s past and present is celebrated in three photo exhibits that have been installed in public spaces.
Three exhibitions — “Images of the Past,” “Merida: City Gallery” and “Sports History” — are part of the citywide MéridaFest celebration.
“Images of the Past” is on view along the Paseo de Montejo at Calle 39, outside the municipal archives, until Thursday, Jan. 28. They depict the people of Yucatán 1879-1920, borrowed from the files of the Autonomous University of Yucatán.
“Sports History” examines how Mérida has played and competed over the last century, and can be admired at the sports center FUT 7 Las Americas until Feb. 3.
And if you visit Plaza Altabrisa you can enjoy the show “Mérida: City Gallery,” which is part of the Collection of the Museum of the City.
Next week, Mérida Fest will also debut major art exhibitions including the oil paintings, drawings, manuscripts and objects of Lebanese poet and writer Gibrán Khalil Gibrán. The works come from the Soumaya Museum in Mexico City.
