A 57-year-old woman who traveled recently to Spain is Yucatan’s first confirmed coronavirus patient.
Health Secretary of Health Mauricio Sauri Vivas confirmed the news at a Government Palace press conference.
The Yucatecan woman presented symptoms soon after returning from Europe. She flew from Madrid to Cancun, said Sauri Vivas.
The woman lives alone and is currently isolated at home, he said.
In addition, there are three suspected cases under review.
Earlier, Gov. Mauricio Vila Dosal reported that the health screenings were increased at the airport, bus terminal and roadblocks.
In addition, it was announced yesterday that the tourist fair, which after much lobbying and expense was to come to Merida, will be postponed.
Among the cancelations that follow coronavirus concerns, singer Carlos Rivera’s concert scheduled for this weekend in Mérida will now take place in May.
