Illegal fishing off the Yucatán Peninsula just got a little more difficult.

The acquisition of 30 new Defender-class boats, which are widely used by the U.S. Coast Guard, was announced by Mario Aguilar Sánchez, the commissioner of the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fishing (Conapesca). Eleven of those will soon be patrolling the Gulf of Mexico from Campeche to the Caribbean Sea.

The Defender-class boats, which be backed up on land by 71 new trucks, which will also aid enforcement.

Conapesca maintains permits office in the U.S. so boats sailing from California can comply with Mexico’s laws.
