4th coronavirus victim dies in Yucatan as new cases grow

Yucatan’s fourth COVID-19 death was reported Tuesday by the Health Ministry.

The victim was a 65-year-old man with diabetes, hypertension and obesity. He is the second Yucatecan coronavirus patient to die; two others were brought here from a stranded British cruise ship.

In total, 78 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19, 10 more since Sunday. Another 92 are awaiting test results, the ministry said.

The unidentified patient who died Tuesday lived alone, but his son, who has no symptoms, is under close watch by medical staff.

Since the contingency began, doctors have been presented with 826 suspected coronavirus cases, 428 of which were ruled to be flu or another illness.

Of the remaining confirmed cases, 55 have recovered and have no symptoms and cannot infect other people; 11 remain stable and monitored by the Ministry of Health; and eight are still being hospitalized and in total isolation.

Mexico’s cases overall jumped to 2,785 and 141 deaths.
