Snowbirds from the East Coast of the U.S. have an attractive new option when planning trips to and from Merida.
Starting Nov. 8, Aeroméxico will add a fourth weekly flight to its Miami-to-Merida route. On Saturdays, its Embraer 190, with room for 99 passengers, will depart Miami, Fla. at 11:15 a.m., arriving 2:10 p.m. This builds on the airlines’s Monday-Thursday-Sunday itineraries at the same time of day.
Flights back to Miami are set for 3:25 p.m.-4:38 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. A passenger flying from New York City, connecting in Miami to Merida, would pay about $400 for a ticket, according to a search on the airline’s U.S. website.
This provides travelers another alternative to the early-morning United Airlines flight to Houston, forcing passengers to head to the Merida International Airport before dawn.
The airline notes that these routes are listed in local time and are subject to change without notice.
Aeroméxico passengers traveling from Merida can purchase Gran Plan packages including round-trip tickets, accommodation at major hotel chains, ground transportation and attractions. Connecting flights to Villahermosa and Mexico City are also available.
