President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will arrive in Yucatan again next weekend on a three-day work tour to deal exclusively with indigenous issues.
This time, Yucatan’s capital city isn’t on the agenda — other than a quick pass through the airport.
Morena official Mario Mex Albornoz said AMLO will talk with indigenous communities in Temozón, Tekax and Valladolid to discussthe affairs of the Maya population.
Indigenous communities have continued to express concerns about the president’s Maya Train program, which would displace communities and upset the ecology.
The visit begins Friday in Temozón followed by Tekax on Saturday and Valladolid on Sunday.
López Obrador last visited the state on Sept. 20 on a three-day tour. At the time, he maintained that the Mayan Train has been accepted by the majority of the inhabitants of Yucatán, Campeche, Tabasco and Quintana Roo, and that consultations are being carried out with villagers.
