Another 28 deaths brings to 90 the number of people who have perished from coronavirus in the first three days of August.
Yet Yucatan remains under the second-highest alert, orange, and not the red alert as predicted by several local health authorities, according to local media.
The Yucatan health department also announced 137 infections, the lowest daily number since June 21. Recoveries outnumbered new infections by 57.
Of the new infections, 99 were traced to Merida, six from Umán, five from Valladolid, four each from Kanasín and Seyé; three from Ticul and Tizimín; and one in Chapab, Chumayel, Espita, Hocabá, Hunucmá, Peto, Progreso, Sacalum, Teabo, Tecoh, Tekat, Temax and Tetiz. Since the crisis began, 10,438 infections have been found in Yucatan, although most patients have recovered. The death tally has reached 1,223, however.
Fatalities comprised 18 men and 10 women from 33 to 90 year years old. Most had other conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, cancer and COPD. Fifteen were from Mérida and one of the deceased was listed as from abroad. Patients from Valladolid, Kanasín, Acanceh, Tizimín, Timucuy, Tetiz, Izamal, Muna, Tekax, Cacalchén, Chemax and Chichimila also perished.
Current patients include 587 at home and 586 in the hospital, three fewer than the day before. Hospitalizations have declined for two consecutive days.
