The Second Annual Korea Festival is Aug. 15-20, celebrating generations of Korean-Yucatecan friendship.
The event, organized by the city, includes cultural, artistic and sports activities to celebrate Korean-Yucatecan friendship.
According to the city councilman Mauricio Díaz Montalvo, the festival fosters “the coexistence of groups of migrants who arrived in Merida 90 years ago and who forged families, built a society along with Meridanos and today they are part of the daily life in our city.”
The Korean Immigration Memorial Museum in Yucatán, the Korean Embassy in Mexico and the Korean Cultural Center are among the participants.
Activities include a photographic exhibition titled “The Beauty of Korea,” a talk about the “Korean Wave” film cycle, a Korean food workshop, a concert and a demonstration of tae kwon do.
All the events are at the Olimpo Cultural Center, for free.
NOTE: Events are occasionally postponed or canceled, or a listing could contain an error, so confirm any activity with the organizer when possible.
