Chelem’s Paseo de las Ánimas, altar contest

Chelem celebrates Hanal Pixan with its own procession of souls, the Paseo de las Ánimas, at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 starting at the municipal cemetery. Wear folkloric clothing, bring a candle, and wear face paint typical of Day of the Dead festivities.
The procession will be modeled on the one held in Mérida on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
A contest to determine the best three altars in Chelem’s main park will follow.
Free registration at the Chelem municipal building.
