Christopher Collins Lee’s Music Museum Tour and Wine Reception

Mon., October 7, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

$750

The Merida English Library presents its latest Capital Campaign event, a tour of the Christopher Collins Lee’s private music collection, 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7. Lee is a world-renowned violin virtuoso and a leading musician at the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra. He also is the leader of the String Quartet of Yucatan.

Lee has been collecting musical curios and manuscripts for most of his career. His dream is to create the first world-class music museum in Merida.

This is an opportunity to see this exciting and fascinating collection with a small group that will be guided by the musician. Some of the items in the collection are a Stroh Violin, which was used for very early violin recordings, early phonographs including disc and cylinder recordings and several pochettes dating to the 17th century.

A reception in one of Merida’s loveliest colonial homes is included. The address will be known only to ticket holders.

Tickets (750 pesos) are on sale at the Slow Food Market on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or by emailing treasurermel@gmail.com.
