Crocodile Art Show
Fri., February 9, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Art critic Edward Bryant called painter and sculptor Joseph Kurhajec “a wild and generous artist, the creator of formidable, declarative sculptures which bite sharply into our fin de siècle complacency.”
Kurhajec’s extensive career includes exhibitions at Allan Stone Gallery and the Whitney and Guggenheim museums in New York City; the Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, NY; Galleria Etrusculudens in Rome; Art 6’75 Basel, Switzerland; Gallery Alexander Monet, Brussels; Galerie Caroline Corre, Paris; and Czech Museum of Fine Arts in Prague.
Kurhajec has studios in Paris and Mérida, and has maintained a summer base at the Treadwell Museum of Fine Art in Treadwell, N.Y. since 1971. Once a general store, a theater, dance hall, and the town hall, the 1867 Neo-classical structure has held expositions of local, national and international artists since opening in 1971 and has a collection of over 6,000 works of art representing over 100 artists.
For us, art is research. It is through art that we explore the unknown. With this spirit in mind, we make art and collect art. Our doors are open to share with you a unique experience”—Joseph Kurhajec.
