An adopt-a-tree program happens today, sponsored by Merida’s Department of Environmental Preservation and Conservation, to promote the greening of the city.
In the Plaza Grande, 500 trees will be offered for free to residents. More will be distributed at Parque Santa Lucia and Parque de la Madre. Just sign up, and you’ll receive a delivery if approved.
The trees are being supplied from local nurseries. Varieties were chosen for their deep roots, as to not disturb sidewalks or pavers.
NOTE: Events are occasionally postponed or canceled, or a listing could contain an error, so confirm any activity with the organizer when possible.
