In addition to its home at the Hacienda Santa Cruz, the International String Quartet of Yucatán now has a Centro residency. It’s La Cúpula Cultural Center.
Writes lead violist Christopher Collins Lee:
Leïla Voight has transformed most of a city block in Santa Ana, into a dream exhibition space for important contemporary artists. In keeping with the contemporary aesthetic, the Quartet will be performing a rich mixture of classics, future classics, and works by such composers as Glass, Schedrin, Alvarez, Nyman, Chick Corea, Piazzolla, and jazz improv is programmed for the following concerts at the Cupula.
Concerts are Jan. 3, March 25, April 22 and May 20.
Each of those concerts will bring their own surprises as the idea of collaborating with some of the world-class artists who may come as soloists to play with the Symphony is a great one, and we plan to be doing more of this in the future. But also inviting cooking chefs or dancers could be other options.
