The International Women’s Club has announced their fifth annual Halloween Party at Hennessy’s Irish Pub, Paseo Montejo x 41 y 43 Centro, on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the Merida IWC Children With Cancer Project. Tickets are 300 pesos in advance and can be purchased at any Merida IWC function, at Robert Abuda Salon, Paseo Montejo x 37 y 39, Tuesday thru Saturday, or send an email to: iwc.merida@gmail.com. Get your tickets early because tickets sold out last year.
Two IWC members, with special permission, visit the children cancer ward at the O’Horan Hospital weekly to provide the children with activity books, crayons or colored pencils, a hot wheel car or handmade toy, and handmade hats. The infants’ parents receive storybooks. They also purchase liquid medications for the infants who would otherwise go home without because of hardship. This gives them a better chance to survive and is not available through the hospital pharmacy.
Dinner and one draft or basic mixed drink are included. Great good ol’ rock and roll provided by the Twangs! Costumes are not required, but laughter is mandatory.
Mérida’s International Women’s Club was founded in 1984 by a few English-speaking women, and has grown to represent more than a dozen nationalities, including many Yucatecans.
NOTE: Events are occasionally postponed or canceled, or a listing could contain an error, so confirm any activity with the organizer when possible.
