Click to view larger imageThe Merida IWC is sponsoring a Halloween party to benefit the Children With Cancer Project at the O’Horan Hospital. Music, dinner and a costume/dance contest is planned.
A member of the IWC has been visiting the hospital weekly for over five years to provide handmade hats, age-based activity books, a packet of crayons or colored pencils, a hot wheel car for the boys, and/or hand-made stuffed toys for the girls and boys. They also provide primarily liquid prescriptions for small children who cannot swallow pills. Some parents cannot afford to buy the liquid medication and the hospital does not provide it in liquid form. This gives these little ones a much better chance at survival.
The International Women’s Club of Merida has been instrumental in providing the needed support to continue this program through fundraising events such as this, as well as hands-on assistance in crocheting and knitting hats and toys.
Tickets available at all IWC functions, Hennessy’s and the Merida English Library.
