The second annual “Remember When” Valentine’s Day Dinner/Dance For Friends will be on the top floor of the 5-star Hotel Conquistador, with panoramic views of the city.
This Feb. 14 celebration starts at 7:30 p.m. and lasts until midnight.
This event provides the primary support for the Mérida International Women’s Club Children With Cancer Project.
Two IWC members visit, with special permissions, the children’s cancer ward at the O’Horan Hospital weekly to provide the children with activity books, crayons or colored pencils, a Hot Wheel car or handmade toy, and handmade hats. The parents receive storybooks. They also purchase some liquid medications for the tiny patients who would otherwise go home without because of hardship. This gives them a better chance to survive and are not available through the hospital pharmacy.
The event also provides Christmas joy through the purchase of piñatas that are stuffed full of useful items and toys for the families of the girls who attend Estancia Nueva Vida in south Merida.
Ticket price (500 pesos in advance) includes a free welcome drink, botanas, three-course chicken cordon bleu dinner (veggie option available) and a dessert. Soft, live saxophone music while dining and great ol’ rock and roll provided by the Twangs. Tables for 10 are available. Dress to feel pretty or guapo. Laughter is mandatory.
Tickets can be purchased at any Mérida International Women’s Club function or at Robert Abuda Salon, Paseo Montejo x 37 y 39, Tuesday thru Saturday, or by contacting Viviana Ramos at 999-332-1486.
NOTE: Events are occasionally postponed or canceled, or a listing could contain an error, so confirm any activity with the organizer when possible.
