An event every week that begins at 9:45 am on Wednesday, repeating until Wed., December 16, 2015
After 12 years, we’re down to the “Final Four” of Keith Heitke’s House and Garden tours.
“I do love doing it and have had so much fun,” says Heitke, whose walks through the Centro have raised hundreds of thousands of pesos for various charities.
With LA68 Centro Cultural closing permanently on Dec. 20, Heitke’s tours will lose its venue, and Heitke will move on to new adventures.
But it’s not too late to benefit from this amiable guide’s deep insight into the Centro’s development and culture. His narration before the tour puts Mérida’s historic center in context; you won’t see the neighborhood in the same way afterwards.
While LA68 is still operating, you can take the walk with the noted designer and real estate agent starting Wednesday, Nov. 25 until Wednesday, Dec. 16.
As before, the cost is 200 pesos per person, starting off at LA68 at 9:45 a.m. Visitors will be guided through three houses within walking distance. You are invited to come early, at 8:30 a.m., for breakfast at LA68’s lovely center courtyard café. The tour also concludes at the same place, in time for lunch; their gift shop will also be open.
“They even have an espresso machine, which is important for many!” says Heitke.
The Mérida English Library will continue its equally terrific weekly tours, however. (Learn more about that.)
