A highly acclaimed film, “The Two Popes,” is this week’s pick for movie night at Il Caffé, a charming Italian restaurant on a pedestrian road behind the Peón Contreras theater. Have dinner on your own at 6 to enjoy a free movie at 7.
The film covers the real-life transition of the papacy from Pope Benedict to the more liberal Pope Francis, and does so with intelligence, humor and compelling storytelling. Nominated for four Golden Globes, with another nine wins and 41 nominations at international film festivals, it stars Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict, and Jonathan Pryce as the future Pope Francis. Both performances received Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor.
Movie night this week is on Wednesday, rather than Tuesday.
