This week’s Monday movie night brings a highly acclaimed but now all-but-forgotten Italian film, “Il Sorpasso” (1962) starring Vittorio Gassman and Jean Louis Trintignant as an unlikely pair who set off on a road trip together from the Via Veneto to the Italian Riviera.
Gassman plays Bruno, a cocky braggart who drives a fancy car (a Lancia Aurelia convertible), and who is always trying to impress his young friend Roberto, a shy introverted law student. Winner of multiple awards at international film festivals. Here’s the IMDb link.
Movie night is each Monday at Il Caffé, tucked away behind the Peón Contreras theater. Treat yourself to dinner at 6 to enjoy the movie at 7.
