This riveting exhibition consists of 15 abstract expressionist works by Veracruz artist Hericko Delfin, along with a collection of figurative pieces from Mexican artists Jorge Aguilar Rojas, Juan Carlos Breceda, Alejandro Flores, Argelia Rojas and their interpretation of the cycle of life.
A reception for the show is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
Hericko’s series “Manifestación de Los Salmos” “Manfestation of Pslams” is an expression of the presence and final absence. Each piece is representative of a specific chapter in the Book of Psalms.
This series just returned to Merida from a month long exhibition in Campeche.
Psalms 23 – Our lives come to an end in the physical sense but we move on to the light of eternity.
The beginning and the end of life are reflected in Hericko’s technique of layering cloth on cloth of colored pieces.
The other collection in the exhibition is a more celebratory, figurative representation of The Dead of the Dead or Día De los Muertos. During this period the borders between the spirit world and the real world disolve. A time when the souls of the dead awaken and return to feast, drink, dance and play music.
The exhibition will be a journey and experience in the cycle of life beautifully depicted in these artists’ works on canvas.
