After a Paris showing, Joseph Kurhajec’s exposition “My Toys” debuts here. The paintings and sculptures remain on view through March 4. Kurhajec is a U.S.-born artist whose maintains studios in Mérida and Paris and a summer base in upstate New York.
Art critic Edward Bryant called Kurhajec “a wild and generous artist, the creator of formidable, declarative sculptures which bite sharply into our fin de siècle complacency.”
Kurhajec’s extensive career includes exhibitions at Allan Stone Gallery and the Whitney and Guggenheim museums in New York City; the Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, N.Y.; Galleria Etrusculudens in Rome; Art 6’75 Basel, Switzerland; Gallery Alexander Monet, Brussels; Galerie Caroline Corre, Paris; and Czech Museum of Fine Arts in Prague.
