Movie night at Il Caffé, a charming Italian restaurant on a pedestrian road behind the Peón Contreras theater. Have dinner on your own at 6 to enjoy a free movie, aimed at English-speaking audiences, at 7.
Sure-fire Oscar nominee “Green Book” is this week’s pick. It was so popular, there are two screenings.
With five Golden Globe nominations already on its resume, as well as 30 wins and 67 nominations at international film festivals, the film stars Viggo Mortensen as Tony Lip, a tough Italian-American bouncer, and Mahershala Ali (of “Moonlight” fame) as Dr. Don Shirley, a concert pianist who has to travel through the Deep South for a series of concerts.
Based on real events, the story takes us on a tour of the South in 1962, where the pair is aided by the book The Negro Motorist Green Book, a travel guide for safe travel through America’s racially segregated southern states.
