Learn about what’s been going on at Yema-Yá, a Mexican nonprofit comprised of five Mayan women who work to promote sustainable development in Chuburna Puerto.
This organic ranch aims to be a model female-driven organic farm, artist collective and educational center. They wish to “strengthen food security, offer educational opportunities and provide a supplemental source of income to the families of Chuburna Puerto.”
Schedule:
10 a.m.: Introduction of the Yema-Yá women and project; presentation of special guests
10:30 a.m.: Guided tour; herbal medicinal garden, compost systems, fruit trees and poultry, horses and goats
Noon: Free to explore. Infused water & juice made from their own herbs will be served, as well as handicrafts for sale, made by the Yema-Yá women.
