The Don Giovanni Overture that precedes Mozart’s famous opera premiered in Prague in 1787 will open this interesting program, in which the Mexican violinist Osvaldo Urbieta will delight us with Mozart’s Concerto for violin No. 4.. From Poland, OSY welcomes guest conductor Jacek Rogala.

The Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 is undoubtedly the most famous of Franz Liszt’s works. Two prominent members of the OSY will perform for the first time the Concerto for two trombones by Hidas, a brilliant composer who also is Hungarian. Finally, Brahms’ beautiful and pastoral Symphony No. 2, whose structure and musical richness has made it one of the most perfect works of the composer.

This interesting Franco-Belgian program includes the Alborada del Gracioso suite originally composed for piano, premiering in Paris in 1919. By the same author, the outstanding Polish pianist, Anna Miernik will delight us with the Piano Concerto written for a famous pianist who lost his right hand in the war. Likewise, the Symphony in D minor , the only one of the genre by Belgian composer César Franck, will show us the beauty of the French cyclic symphonic form.

History has always linked Mexico with the U.S. It opens the Sensemayá de Revueltas program based on the poem by the same name of Cuban writer Nicolás Guillén. The Portuguese violinist Emanuel Salvador returns to Mérida to premiere the only Ponce violin concerto. Aaron Copland’s El Salón México, inspired by the famous Mexico City club, first played by the Symphony Orchestra of Mexico in 1937. Also, the ballet suite Billy the Kid with American folk themes.

Three brilliant members of the Orpheus Quartet will delight us with the only concert for three soloists by Beethoven; it premiered in Vienna in 1808. In the second act, the OSY, under the baton of the Spanish director Miguel Ángel Navarro, will perform the Symphony No. 1 of Schumann, inspired by poems of spring, which premiered in Leipzig in 1841

The renowned Mexican pianist Jorge Federico Osorio returns to Mérida to delight us with the Concerto No. 2 for piano by Brahms, as beautiful as it is grandiose, whose four movements evoke a great symphony and which was premiered by the same composer in Budapest in 1881. Changing times, the OSY will perform the most important symphony Prokofiev ever composed, in the middle of World War II, and which premiered in Moscow in 1945.

Scores from movies including “E.T.,” “Harry Potter and the famous films “Star Wars” saga with music by John Williams, as part of a program for the whole family.

Guest conductor Jesus Medina’s program includes the famous London Symphony by the English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Likewise, the talented Mexican soloist Pablo Garibay will perform the most famous guitar concert by Aranjuez de Rodrigo, which was written in Paris and premiered in Barcelona.

The brilliant choristers Juan José Pastor and Samuel Rafinesque, members of the OSY, will offer us the beautiful concert for two horns by Haydn, accompanied by the Peruvian director Fernando Valcárcel, head of the National Orchestra of Peru, who returns to Mérida to also direct the famous Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, dedicated to Count Franz von Oppersdorff.

The OSY will perform Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 for the first time in Yucatan, one of the most famous of the composer, which premiered in Leipzig in 1884 and dedicated to King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

JUNE 15, 17, 18, 21 y 23: 8 p.m.
The annual opera produced by Figarosy captivates the public. Therefore, it will represent one of the most important stagings of all time: “Don Giovanni,” Mozart’s jocular drama in two acts.
