Camera crews return to Mérida, this time for Travel Channel documentary
Mérida, Yucatán — For the second time in less than a month, Mérida is the setting for a film.
This time, the film is a documentary produced by the U.S.-based Travel Channel. They are focusing on local customs in Yucatán.
The camera crew took advantage of the Monday holiday to film Lucas de Gálvez market. They engaged some tenants, asking them about their daily life.
One crew member told Milenio Novedades that the state government assisted in production, which will continue all week at the Paseo de Montejo, and out of town at haciendas and cenotes.
In mid-January, the Chuminópolis neighborhood was the setting for the filming“Miedos” (“Fears”), a horror film that follows a fictional, spooky plot revolving around the disappearance of some children. It is directed by Rommel Treviño, a Yucatecan filmmaker.
Their shooting schedule will take them to abandoned warehouses and haciendas over the next five or six months, reports Milenio.
