Mérida, Yucatán — The Autonomous University of Yucatán has attracted the attention of a consortium of Canadian universities.
CALDO, which stresses international studies, met with UADY Rector José de Jesús Williams in the downtown campus. The visitors represent nine research universities from Alberta to Waterloo.
At the meeting, held in the central building of the UADY, the directors of the consortium, David Gray, Alain Boutet and Carolyn Watters — who is provost and vice-president of the historic Dalhousie University in Halifax — stressed their interest in creating high-impact synergies involving students from both countries.
According to SIPSE, the Canadian academics were most interested in community social projects, agriculture, aquaculture and energy.
