The Rally Maya Mexico is back, this time starting off in Yucatan’s Uxmal archaeological site.
The sixth edition begins Friday, May 17 and ends in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, nine days later, said Benjamín de la Peña Mora, principal event organizer.
Over 100 rare and priceless antique or classic cars will be shipped here from 14 countries. They then take the road, stopping at various points across the Yucatan Peninsula.
“In reality, the rally needs no introduction because over the last six years we have not stopped working, we have positioned ourselves as one of the best automobile events in all of Mexico,” he said.

The route changes ever year, and since its inception has stopped in 180 towns, 19 archaeological zones, seven museums and 15 beaches. After over 6,000 kilometers, they’ve never had an accident, said Peña Mora, with a nod to police and the Ángeles Verdes.
He also noted that more than 500 crews from 35 countries have enjoyed the wonders offered by the Yucatan Peninsula, with vehicles representing 43 brands, many of them rare gems of automotive engineering. Thanks to 95 corporate sponsors, a significant number of wheelchairs have been donated to local inhabitants — the charitable side to the annual event.
The “rolling museum” will be judged in categories based on age — they must be at least 40 years old. Rolls Royce, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Packard, MG, Alfa Romeo, Oldsmobile, Jaguar, Cadillac, Austin Healy, Pontiac, Renault, Dodge, Plymouth, Buick, Lincoln, Chevrolet, VW and Ford A and T models have been part of previous rallies.
