Danger signs: Drop in coronavirus cases reverses
New coronavirus infections in Yucatan totaled 121 on Sunday, the highest number reported in weeks.
Five weeks of declining weekly coronavirus infections also reversed, a look at numbers reported by the SSY revealed.
Two weeks ago, new daily cases averaged 97. Last week’s daily average was 103.
Three women with coronavirus died between Saturday and Sunday, the lowest number of daily fatalities since June, and a reflection of the earlier decline in new infections.
The women who perished ranged in age from 64 to 76 years. They also suffered from hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney failure, doctors said. The number of COVID-related deaths in Yucatan now totals 2,332 people.
New infections included 92 in Merida, 12 in Valladolid, three in Chemax, Peto and Ticul; two in Hunucmá; and one in Abalá, Izamal, Oxkutzcab, Tekax, Tinum and Yaxkabá.
Of 18,958 people infected in Yucatan since the crisis began, 82% have recovered, SSY official said.
Of the active cases, 926 are stable, isolated at home with mild symptoms, and 148 remain hospitalized and in total isolation. The age range of positive cases is from one month to 99 years.
