Day of the Dead parade pays tribute to migrants

Mexico City — Towering skeletons and dancers bounded along Mexico City’s main avenue to celebrate its third annual Day of the Dead parade.
Marchers paid tribute to migrants who lost their lives just as thousands of Central Americans make their way through southern Mexico in a caravan with the hope of starting anew in the United States. At least one migrant has died since the caravan set out from Honduras more than two weeks ago.
Saturday’s parade was inspired by scenes in the James Bond movie, “Spectre.”
In Mérida, Yucatán, thousands of participants are expected to form a procession on Wednesday, Oct. 31, when the Paseo de las Ánimas presents a regional twist to the tradition.
