Distrito Arte Mérida Opens Its Business Center
Mérida added a new mixed-use development to its rapidly expanding north side Thursday with the official inauguration of Distrito Arte Mérida’s Business Center. The complex will eventually combine corporate offices, retail spaces, green areas and residential towers.
Gianni Rosa, general director of the López-Rosa Group, described the opening as “a big step and the culmination of a lot of work,” though he emphasized the Business Center marks just the beginning of the larger development. Future phases will include Parque Pimienta — a more than 2.4-acre green space for Mérida families — a service plaza, a north gastronomic corridor and a 120-room Voco hotel operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“We hope to contribute to the provision of quality services and entertainment beyond the periferico,” Rosa said during the ceremony. He thanked business partners Fernando de la Cámara, Ricardo Canto and Ricardo Díaz, as well as the management team and Víctor Hugo Zamora Arellano, representative of Nafin/Bancomext, for their support.
Rosa predicted that key components of the complex will be realized in the coming months and years, creating a distinctive district centered around art, culture and commerce.
The newly opened Business Center occupies five levels and features 17 commercial spaces, 70 offices, rooftop parking, elevators, meeting rooms, reception areas on each floor and a rooftop space for special events.
DAM sits in a strategic location in northern Mérida, an area that has seen explosive growth since the 2000s. The northern zone has become a premium residential and commercial corridor, hosting luxury developments, shopping centers and international businesses along the Prolongación Paseo de Montejo and toward the Gulf Coast.
The development’s main entrance features a water mirror displaying the letters DAM, flanked by two ceiba trees that will become an integral part of the landscape as they mature. The first stone for Parque Pimienta was laid in March 2025, with construction now underway.
Future residential development will add 18 towers of modular apartments to the complex, creating what developers envision as a cultural and business district centered around art and community spaces.
The project represents one of several large-scale developments transforming Mérida’s urban landscape as the city has officially become Mexico’s 10th most populous metropolitan area, surpassing Toluca and Querétaro.
