Mérida, Yucatán — Six-hundred young people who signed up to take part in a community dog fair will have their day after all. The state Youth Secretariat’s Fourth Canine Walk, rained out earlier this month, will be 7 p.m. Saturday, July 1.
The head of the unit, Luis Enrique Borjas Romero, said that a three-kilometer group dog-walk will start at Parque de la Alemán, where owners can register their pets starting at 5, or any time at www.sejuve.gob.mx.
Beauty and costume competitions are also planned in the park, as well as special contests for “mestizos dogs.” In addition, activities will be dedicated to Mexican hairless dogs and chihuahuas.
The public is asked not to bring any dogs that are ill, antisocial, aggressive or in heat. Only dogs with leashes will be admitted.
