This is Almada’s fourth collaboration with the symphony. The cast is composed of nine singers: Joshua Ceron, Irasema Terrazas, Claudia Rodriguez, Enrique Angeles, Gabriela Thierry, Linda Saldana, Miguel Mena, Emilio Carsi and Ximena Rodríguez; also involved are members of the Taller de Ópera de Yucatán.

This comic opera was first performed in Vienna on May 1, 1786. It concludes the symphony’s 2015 season, which began in January.

The curtain rises June 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27 at 8 p.m. Get tickets (300-600 pesos) here or at the box office.

After extensive renovations the Teatro Peón Contreras in Merida was reopened June 10.

Major improvements ranged from box seats to the orchestra pit. New seating was installed throughout and sound and lighting systems were replaced. Outside, the facade was repainted.
