For the third consecutive day, six COVID-19 patients in Yucatan have died in 24 hours, according to the health ministry.
New cases of contagion totaled 68, the second-highest daily number since Thursday when it was announced that 80 people had been infected.
Of the new infections, 40 were in Merida. Eight more infections were in Ticul, five in Valladolid, three in Kanasín, two in Chapab and Temax; and one each from Hunucmá, Motul, Oxcutzcab, Progreso, Quintana Roo, Temozón, Tizimín and Yobaín.
This brings to 151 the number of coronavirus deaths in Yucatan, while confirmed cases have reached 1,500 since the crisis began. Of those, 40 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, however, bringing that number to 963 for a recovery rate of 64.2%.
A 44-year-old Merida woman, who had hypertension and obesity, was the youngest to perish, while an 85-year-old Merida woman, also suffering from hypertension, was the oldest. No one who died left behind contacts with signs of the virus.
Of existing cases, 243 patients are recovering at home while 143 are under hospital care, 20 more than Saturday.
Patients range in age from 4 months to 94 years.
Hospitals report that beds for coronavirus patients are 23% occupied.
