The impoverished family of a 28-year-old man in Kanasín, left incapacitated from a massive tumor on his leg, has taken their plight to local media.

“This is no life … I would rather die than live this way,” said Carlos Fernando Baas, confined to a hammock as a 40-centimeter/15-inch tumor grows on his right femur.

Somehow, authorities have denied aid that would allow a hospital to remove the growth, which has persisted for five years, growing in spurts over the last two years.

Doctors at Agustín O’Horán Hospital say surgery would have to take place in the state of Mexico.

To communicate with Carlos Fernando Baas and his family, call 9992-21-86-80 and 9992-67-06-96.
