Mérida, Yucatán — Another low-priced international clothing brand has come to town.

Forever 21, a Los Angeles-based fashion chain targeting young women, is opening at Plaza Dorada.

This follows H&M’s recent grand opening at Plaza Galerias.

Forever 21 is the fifth-largest specialty retailer in the United States and plans to double its stores around the world in the next three years. The family-owned company already has outposts across Mexico, as well as the U.S., South America, Asia and Europe.

The opening date for the Mérida store was not disclosed.

The president of the local business chamber, Juan José Abraham Daguer, said that the arrival of international brands will continue as upcoming malls and shopping complexes open.
