From 0 last week to 28 new COVID infections in Yucatán

The Yucatán health ministry reported 28 new COVID-19 infections, compared to three cases this time last week. Hospitalizations are steady with seven patients in public hospitals.

Home quarantines for mild cases are also up. On Thursday, 83 were stuck at home, but on Saturday that number rose to 122.

Still, no deaths were reported. That makes three full weeks without coronavirus fatalities in Yucatán.

Of the new cases, 25 were in Mérida, two were in Kanasín and one in Umán.

A second booster shot of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been offered to adults 60 and over and medical workers next week in Mérida, Valladolid, Tizimín, Ticul and Progreso.
