Merida, Yucatan — A grand slam in the seventh inning lifted the Saraperos de Saltillo to a 12-4 win over the Leones de Yucatan on Wednesday.

The blast by Jorge Vazquez scored three to give the Saraperos a 9-2 lead.

The Saraperos later scored three runs in the eighth to punctuate the blowout.

The victory evens the series after Yucatan shut out Saltillo on Tuesday.

Southpaw Kelvin Marte (4-3) picked up the win after allowing two runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings. The Leones’ starter, Jose Samayoa (4-3), took the loss after giving up four runs and six hits over five innings.

Tonight’s deciding game is at 7:45 p.m. with Raul Carrillo (7-5, 4.61 ERA) facing the Leones’ Jesse Estrada (5-1, 5.24 ERA).
