Progreso, Yucatán — Similar HGTV shows have beat them to the beachfront, but now “House Hunters International” finally follows an expat couple making a new life in Progreso.

Yasmin Hurd and her “very Texan” husband, Webster Hurd II, share their story with “HHI,” even depicting their former lives back in Gatesville, Texas.

“Here we are four years later, happily married and starting a new chapter in our lives,” Yasmin says.

(A big spoiler follows.)

The storyline of “Yucatan Cowboy, which aired Aug. 9, is set up this way: He never really wanted to leave Texas, but she’s pulling him along. He wants a Texas-size lot and home, while she wants to downsize into something cozy. Both want beachfront.

They display a yin and yang that make for an entertaining half hour.

“She’s very strong willed,” Web says.

They engage Yucatan Beach & City Property’s John Duchkar, who shows the format’s requisite three properties, including the one in Chelem that they eventually buy.

HGTV doesn’t always post their episodes on YouTube. Watch it now while it’s still available.

Similar shows “Beachfront Bargain Hunt” and “Mexico Life” have already taped episodes at Yucatán’s beach communities, but this is “House Hunters International’s” first time there after seven episodes in Mérida.

Many expats are in Yucatán after learning about the community for the first time on “House Hunters International” and similar programs.
