Inflation in Mexico at nearly 1-year low
Mexico City — Inflation in the first half of February increased 0.20 percent, its lowest increase since the first half of 2016, when it grew 0.29 percent, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reported.
The annualized inflation stands at 5.45 percent, its lowest level since March 2017, when it was set at 5.35 percent, the Inegi said.
The biweekly trend was lower than the 0.33 percent recorded in the same period last year.
The highest price increases corresponded to gasoline, eggs, air transport and bananas.
These increases were partially offset by lower prices for tomatoes, serrano peppers, onions and domestic gas, Inegi reported.
The highest price increases were in Tepatitán, Jalisco; Tijuana, Baja California; and Ciudad Jiménez, Chihuahua.
The most modest price increases were in Tapachula, Chiapas; San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz; and Villahermosa, Tabasco.
