Interjet begins flights in Merida and other domestic destinations starting today.

The low-cost airline said Monday that it reorganized its operation plan with full support of the board of directors to operate 14 domestic routes starting Tuesday. International flights will resume later “according to health conditions.”

The decision was taken in the context of the critical situation imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic on the entire airline industry, noted a press release.

“The resumption and expansion of routes and frequencies will occur gradually, first in domestic destinations and then in international, to the extent that travel restrictions are lifted in different countries,” Interjet said.

The other destinations are Cancun, Mexico City, Acapulco, Chetumal, Mazatlan, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Veracruz, Villahermosa and Zihuatanejo, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta and Oaxaca.

A press release also said that in view of the public health issue represented by COVID-19, Interjet implemented a safe-flight policy that complies with protocols established by Mexico’s health and civil aviation authorities.
