Krispy Kreme will open a new outlet in Mérida this June as it continues its expansion into southeast Mexico.
Franchise holder Taco Holding announced the construction of a production center and retail location next the Chili’s Restaurant on the Prolongation Paseo de Montejo.
At least 130 jobs will be created by this new enterprise.
Krispy Kreme opened in Cancun in 2013. The international retailer is headquartered in Winston-Salem, N.C., and was founded in 1937. Today, Krispy Kreme can be found in over 975 locations in more than 20 countries.
The Krispy Kreme Mexico franchise is owned and operated by Taco Holding, S.A. de C.V, which was named Krispy Kreme’s 2012 International Franchisee of the Year. Since 2004, Taco Holdings has maintained over 100 locations in cities that include Mexico City, Puebla, Cuernavaca, Monterrey, Leon, Guadalajara, and Aguascalientes, and they announced a southern expansion three years ago. Taco Holding also has the rights to Arrachera House, Sixties Burger, Sbarro, Neve Gelato, Cafe Diletto and Pan & Cielo.
Meanwhile, rival Dunkin Donuts announced in January the introduction of 100 units throughout Mexico, including Yucatán.
