Merida, Yucatan — Chef David Cetina’s La Tradición restaurant has been named one of Mexico’s 120 best restaurants for the fourth consecutive year.

Ku’uk, Nectar and Kinich de Izamal are three other Yucatecan restaurants that appear on the list.

Their names appear in la guía México Gastronómico (Mexico Gastronomic Guide) 2019, sponsored by San Pellegrino/Nespresso.

The restaurants on the list were chosen from over 700 nominees from across the country by a jury that includes 50 professionals from the restaurant industry, marketers, journalists, photographers and celebrities.

Aspects such as the quality of the kitchen, service and the preparation of the food were considered in the selection process, as were continuity, techniques and ingredients.

Awards were announced at a St. Regis Hotel gala in Mexico City, which is where you’ll need to go to buy the guide. It’s for sale at the Palacio de Hierro stores for 120 pesos.

La Tradición also recently received the recognition “Best Regional Cuisine” from Gourmet Awards Mexico.
