“My Days” sales benefit two animal organizations, No Mas Perritos and AFAD.
A launch party and signing (or make that “pawing”) for “My Days,” a book with beautiful and whimsical photos set in the Yucatán, will be at Hennessy’s Irish Pub 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 27.
By Leanna Staines with help from her dog Fitz, “My Days” sells for 600 pesos.
All proceeds go to the spay and neuter campaigns of two nonprofits, No Más Perritos and AFAD.
“It shows the beautiful quirkiness of our city and its people and why we love it. The inspirational travel quotes were carefully selected and I can hear Fitz saying them,” Sean Hennessy, owner of the pub, wrote on Facebook.

A corner property in Mérida’s historic center that sat in ruins for years has just claimed one of the hospitality world’s more competitive design awards. Hotel Sevilla took the Small Hotel prize at the 22nd annual HD Awards, presented by Hospitality Design magazine. The ceremony was held May 5 at Encore Resort at Wynn Las…

The markets of Oaxaca City are not designed for tourists. They are the city’s working kitchens and warehouses, places where the business of feeding a community happens. To walk through the Mercado Benito Juárez or the sprawling Tlacolula market is to experience the city’s raw ingredients without any filter. This is not to say that…
A sculptor who left Vienna half a century ago and eventually found her artistic home in the Yucatán village of Cholul has received Mexico’s highest honor in the visual arts. Gerda Gruber received the Medalla Bellas Artes 2026 in Visual Arts from Mexico’s Secretariat of Culture and the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura…
There is a neighborhood in the south of Mérida where the smell of fried pork has drawn people for more than 70 years. Xcalachén — now officially one of the city’s three Barrios Mágicos — built its identity around a single dish: chicharra, a Yucatecan specialty that bears only a passing resemblance to the chicharrón…
