The following is an open letter that has been signed Sus Vecinos y Amigos
Una declaración para México y su gente de un grupo de residentes foráneos en Mérida, Yucatán:
- Sentimos la necesidad de expresar nuestra solidaridad e intención de ayudar a nuestro país adoptivo en cualquier modo posible.
- Reconocemos el papel importante que tiene México y su gente en la economía y en el tejido social de los estados unidos.
- Hemos elegido hacer nuestra casa aquí en México, y a pesar de la política estadounidense, nos unimos a nuestros vecinos mexicanos.
- Siempre nos hemos sentido bienvenidos por la hospitalidad mexicana y aceptados por su gente.
- Nos avergonzamos del trato de nuestro gobierno actual hacia México y su gente.
- Creemos en brazos abiertos, no en muros cerrados
- Si se construyen más muros, nosotros tenemos palas.
A statement to Mexico and its people from a group of foreign residents in Mérida, Yucatán:
- We feel the need to voice our solidarity and intent to help our adopted country any way we can.
- We recognize the important role Mexico and its people play in the economy and social fabric of the United States.
- We have chosen to make our home here in Mexico and despite the current U.S. politics, we stand with our Mexican neighbors.
- We have always felt welcomed by Mexican hospitality and embraced by the people.
- We are embarrassed by the treatment of Mexico and its people by our current government.
- We believe in open arms, not closed walls.
- If more walls are built, we have shovels.
