López Obrador’s cousin is latest relative to die from COVID-19

Úrsula Mojica Obrador, cousin of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, died this Friday morning while being treated in Tampico for COVID-19, according to El Universal. Mojica Obrador’s husband and son also died from the coronavirus.

On July 17, Mojica Obrador — herself involved in party politics — first reported that she was suffering from the virus, but had mild symptoms. She later checked in to a nearby ISSSTE hospital.

The news was also released through social networks by people close to his family and fellow Morena party members.

One of the posts was made by Sen. Américo Villarreal Anaya on his Facebook account.

“We express our deepest condolences and join the feeling of pain of his appreciable family. Rest in peace,” he said.
