Lucky dogs: See the latest canine couture in a Mérida designer’s runway show

Swarovski diamonds and real pearls hit the dogwalk this weekend in a spectacular doggy fashion show, closing off a highly successful pet expo at the Yucatán Siglo XXI convention center.

Mérida fashion designer Marcelo Lopez, creator of the Marcelo Chic line, paraded 24 individual custom-made outfits down the mascota runway on Sunday. Marcelo didn’t forget the owners, who took care to wear matching outfits.

From French poodles to English sheepdogs, pit bulls to Pomeranians — all received the sparkling fashion treatment. A wowed audience rapturously appreciated the skill and variety of a master at work.
