Mérida Carnaval 2026 Lineup Features Regional and International Acts
Mérida Carnaval organizers announced the musical and cultural lineup for the city’s 2026 celebration, set to take place February 14-25 at the carnival grounds on Calle 21 near the Feria Yucatán venue.
The event will feature both Mexican and international performers across multiple stages, including norteño group Los Invasores de Nuevo León, cumbia artist Charly Fuentes, and popular Mexican bands like Cuisillos and Los Yaguaru. International acts include Spanish artist Fangoria and the Argentine fusion group Agapornis.
Local talent will also take center stage, with performances by Los Cariño, Nado Leal, Salsarengue, and regional favorites like Jano Canul and Leydi Couoh. The carnival’s programming aims to showcase both traditional and contemporary musical styles popular across the Yucatán Peninsula.
“We’re bringing together artists who represent different musical traditions,” said Carlos Saiden Ojeda, director of the carnival. “This mix reflects what people in Mérida enjoy listening to today.”
Traditional Circus Acts Return
Beyond the music, the carnival will maintain its traditional circus entertainment. The program includes trapeze artists, clowns, acrobats, and animal acts under the big top. Organizers say these performances remain a key part of the carnival experience for families.
The circus component has drawn criticism in recent years from animal welfare groups across Mexico who oppose using animals in entertainment. However, carnival officials note that circus traditions remain deeply rooted in Mexican popular culture.
Daily programming will include afternoon and evening shows, with different artists scheduled throughout the two-week run. Organizers expect the carnival to draw visitors from across the region, as it has during previous years.
Part of Mérida’s Festival Calendar
The carnival joins other major events on Mérida’s cultural calendar, including the annual Carnaval de Mérida street parade held in the city’s historic center each year before Lent. That separate celebration typically features elaborate floats, costumes, and street performers.
Mérida has worked to establish itself as a cultural destination in recent years, hosting festivals year-round that celebrate both traditional Yucatecan heritage and contemporary arts. The Carnaval 2026 event represents a more commercial entertainment option alongside the city’s free public celebrations.
Ticket prices and specific show times have not yet been released. Organizers plan to announce additional details about individual performances and special guest appearances in coming weeks.
The carnival grounds location near the Feria Yucatán provides parking and access to public transportation. City officials say they will coordinate with carnival organizers on traffic management and security during the event’s run.
For residents and visitors planning to attend multiple shows, organizers suggest checking the official carnival social media channels for updated schedules as the February dates approach. The variety of musical acts means programming will change nightly, with headlining performers typically scheduled for weekend evenings.
