Estrella brings Yucatán flavors to Atlanta, with the help of a well-known Mérida restaurateur. Photo: Courtesy

Roberto Solis, of Merida’s Nectar, is bringing the flavors of Yucatán to Atlanta.

Solis created a Yucatecan menu, including cocktails and Mexican specialties such as ceviche and adobo chicken. Chef Cam Floyd will be at the helm of the restaurant, called Estrella.

The restaurant will focus mainly on small, shared plates like ceviche, cochinita spring rolls, and chayitas, which are fried patties made with flour and chaya (or spinach) leaves.

Estrella’s fashionable bar overlooking the BeltLine will serve cocktails like Hemingway daiquiris, pisco sours and gin-and-tonics from a table-side cart along with a deep list of sparkling wines and champagne, reports Eater.

The Yucatán-inspired, open-air cocktail club and restaurant is opening Aug. 30 atop Bazati, a multi-level market, restaurant and bar in the Common Grounds development.

Inspired by its name, “star” in English, Estrella is styled after mid-century Miami and present-day Merida, writes the Atlantic Business Journal.

The Common Ground development is a renovated warehouse that was once a facility for Western Electric Company. It sits beside New Realm Brewing, which has 7,500 square feet of outdoor space, including a rooftop terrace overlooking the Eastside Trail.
