Here’s a chance to sample the offerings from chefs you have been putting off visiting. At least 150 restaurants will offer special $99 dishes for Mérida Restaurant Week beginning Monday, Feb. 29.
Restaurants ranging from Los Almendros to La Recova have signed up. Fast food chains such as Burger King have also arranged specials for these seven days. See whole list here.
Restaurant Week is a promotion held in cities all around the world; it began in New York City in the early 1990s as a lunch-only fixed-price promotion. It caught on quickly, even with its detractors.
In Mérida, as in other cities, Restaurant Week will seek to attract tourists and on-the-fence diners during a traditionally slow week.
The president of the Business Coordinating Council said that the doors are open for all restaurants and food trucks to take part in the promotion.
